In about 1920, a young Australian girl from Melbourne was taken on as a trainee beauty assistant in the London salon. Her name was Claire - all we know of her is that she was an orphan brought up by nuns.

Eight years later through hard work and dedication to the business she came to the notice of Helena who then took a great interest in Claire. It was commented at the time that Claire had a striking resemblance to Helena.

A year later with Helena's encouragement Claire returned to Australia to be part of the Melbourne salon.
